Episode Recap

On the morning Sung Ho had invited Haebom in for breakfast, the village head predicted that it was going to rain, and sure enough, it rained for two days. Haebom excused himself that day, explaining that he was off to help the elders. Most live alone in the mountains and have a hard time when it rains suddenly.

A couple of days later, with the sun out and beaming, Sung Ho and his daughter are now ready to learn how to farm. Sung Ho admires the weather as they wait for Haebom to arrive. When he gets there, the three of them take a short walk down the road from the house. There, Sung Ho is surprised to see the condition of the field.

Lots of litter and run-off from the mountain has gathered on the field since no one has been tending to it. Haebom explains that the first thing to do is to clear all the debris and collect the leftover mulching vinyl. He gives Sung Ho some tools to do the needed work and holds out his hands, signaling for Sung Ho to hand over his daughter.

Sung Ho is hesitant to comply, eyeing Haebom suspiciously. Haebom reminds him that he can’t possibly expect to carry his baby for hours on end in the hot sun. Knowing Haebom is right, Sung Ho cautiously passes the baby to the village head.

Haebom settles down in the shade of a tree nearby, close enough so Sung Ho wouldn’t worry about being far from his child. He lays out on a picnic blanket, opens some snacks, and makes himself and Sung Ho’s daughter comfortable the shade. Unfortunately for Sung Ho, the close distance also means having to put up with Haebom’s constant micromanaging on how he is tending to the field.

While Sung Ho daydreams about hurling a can at Haebom to shut him up, a little boy runs to him, offering to help pick up the rest of the cans. The little boy introduces himself as Choi Yeonju and asks Sung Ho if he’s his father.

My Takeaways

I’m laughing so hard at the shrimp chip bag. I don’t know why I find it so funny. Brand parodies occur all the time in webtoons, mostly with major brands like Samsung, Adidas or Land Rover, so to see it done for snack is hilarious to me. Anyway, Haebom came prepared! Not only did he have the tools for Sung Ho to tend to the field, but he also brought a picnic. Clearly, it was mostly for himself because knew Sung Ho would be working in the field but still. It’s the thought that counts.

I was wondering when Yeonju was finally going to make his official appearance. He seems like such a sweet kid, doesn’t he? At the very beginning of the series, when a shadow was shown to be hanging around Sung Ho’s new home, it seemed a little ominous. But now we know it was Yeonju and not someone with ill intent.
